GCSS Constituent Rate Policy

With the imminent beginning of school and in an effort to communicate as thoroughly and as comprehensively as possible, we are sharing the following information regarding the constituent rate (discounted school tuition rate) for A.W. Spalding Elementary, Collegedale Adventist Middle School, and Collegedale Academy.

In an effort to:

A)    Clarify and simplify a policy

B)    Clarify the definition of a constituent member

C)   Make the application of a policy as fair and balanced as possible

D)   Emphasize the importance of being actively involved in the church

…the following policy and definition has been developed and voted on by the board of the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The Collegedale Church deeply values the meaning and significance of committed and participating membership.  We also deeply value the privilege of helping our members enjoy the benefits of Christian education.  With this in mind, the following criteria will apply to all prospective and current member families desiring the constituent rate for their children.

All membership transfer requests desiring the constituent rate must be made before the start of the current semester.

  • In non single-parent families where both spouses are Adventists, both parents must transfer membership to the Collegedale Church for the children to be eligible to receive the constituent rate.

  • Once the membership transfer request has been submitted, at least one parent of the transferring family must attend the Welcome To Our Family (new member) class prior to the start of the next semester.  In this class the mission, core values and membership expectations of prospective church members are discussed.

  • Failure to attend Welcome To Our Family by the start of the next semester will result in the forfeiture of the constituent rate.  The family will be eligible to receive the constituent rate at the beginning of the next semester which immediately follows attendance of Welcome To Our Family.

  • For transferring members as well as current members, a constituent family will be characterized as one where the parents demonstrate their commitment by regular attendance, service, and giving.  To demonstrate my compliance with this policy, I have signed the Constituent Rate Policy Verification form and returned it to the church office.

We realize the criteria mentioned above represent an intentional approach to the identification of a constituent member/family.  We deeply value our members.  We deeply value the participation and investment of our members in congregational life.  We desire our policies to reflect these core values.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the church office and speak with any the pastors on staff.
