Chris Hernandez is a proud son of immigrants hailing from Mexico and Peru. He likes to introduce himself as “Mexiruvian.” Through opportunities to travel and serve internationally, Chris has grown in his appreciation and curiosity of other cultures. He has studied abroad in Argentina and is fluent in Spanglish. Originally from California, Chris came to Tennessee to finish his undergraduate degree at Southern Adventist University, receiving a bachelor's degree in International Studies–Spanish with a minor in Global Policy and Service Studies in 2016. This year, Chris will complete his Master of Social Work degree with an emphasis in trauma and emergency management.
Although the West Coast is home, Chris has grown to appreciate the culture, people, and landscape of Tennessee. He recognizes the value of stories and how meals can be a great equalizer for people to share and learn about each other. You’ll likely see him around town trying local cuisine or on the trails running or hiking.
Chris is available to meet for individual or group counseling sessions with families, adolescents, and adults. Additionally, his focus areas include anxiety, depression, cross-cultural transition, grief and loss.
