PhD, LCSW
Lorri Merchant
Lorri received her Bachelors degree in Social Work from Southern Adventist University in 1994 and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1996 with her Master of Social Work degree. She has been a Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years.
Lorri’s knowledge, skills and abilities extend to crisis intervention, grief and loss counseling, and overall mental health (particularly depression and anxiety). She utilizes multiple therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and is a trained EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).
Lorri is the Master of Social Work Program Director and an Associate Professor for the School of Social Work at Southern Adventist University
Married for over 20 years, Lorri has two college age children. She is passionate about helping people. She enjoys time with her family, her dogs and interaction with her students.

Lourdes Rivera
LMSW
Lourdes graduated from Southern Adventist University with a bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies. She then received her Masters in Social Work from UTC. Lourdes works as a Case Manager for Erlanger Community Health Centers offering bio-psychosocial services to patients of all ages. She is the mother of two girls, 22 and 14, which have given, and continue to give her, many life lessons (and gray hairs! lol ) and uses those experiences to empathize and assist parents and adolescents navigate through barriers and conflict.
She is passionate about mental health and helping others build resilience and find their identity through Jesus Christ. Her knowledge, skills, and abilities include depression, anxiety, codependency, intimate partner violence, parent and family conflict, and substance dependence. She uses an integrative, person-centered approach when addressing problems and interventions with clients. Modalities she engages with include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems and Solution-Focused Therapy.
