Habitat Thanksgiving House Dedicated

Despite the cold, pouring rain and the orange mud that grabbed our shoes and stained our clothing as we hiked down muddy Bunch Street, a good group of us joined the Scott family on Thanksgiving morning to dedicate what will soon be their Habitat For Humanity home.
For the past two months, volunteers from our church and many other churches and businesses in the Collegedale Community have been working shifts to construct this “Thanksgiving” house.
What a joy it was to gather with Mrs. Scott and her family to celebrate the near completion of this task. We stood with her on her front porch with the rain falling and reflected on Matthew 7:24 “…and the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall because it had been founded on the rock.” We prayed asking God to take the lumber we had nailed together, the blocks that had been mortared to each other, the sheet rock, that had been put up and finished and change them from a house into a home for this family. Her card written for the Collegedale Church expressed it well. “Thank you for making my family dreams come true!”
