Global Missions

Purpose of Mission Emphasis Matthew 25:40, “…I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it for me.” NIV, makes it very plain that a Christian has the responsibility, in fact, bears the fruit of giving service to their fellow man. That service certainly can and should take place here at home, and in the community. In addition, the Collegedale Church believes that it has the responsibility to provide opportunities for service in a foreign country. This expands our focus from the “happy valley” of Collegedale to a more global awareness. Too often we focus too much on our Seventh-day Adventist community, forgetting that there is a large suffering world beyond our comfort zone.
One way that the Church encourages service is through foreign, short term mission projects. Several years ago the Collegedale Church adopted Cambodia as our “sister” mission. Since then we have sponsored a trip every two years for the purpose of helping the Mission to build churches. This is primarily an adult-focused trip. On the alternating years, the Church sponsors a youth trip, often in conjunction with Collegedale Academy, to Central America. These trips have been primarily to the country of Belize and have helped the local members build both schools and church buildings. Each of these trips also involves the members of the group in other projects such as conducting evangelistic outreach programs, vacation Bible schools, helping to tutor in the local schools and conducting medical outreach. These activities open many opportunities for the group members to be of service to their fellow man, to grow spiritually, and to increase their global awareness and sensitivity. It is very easy on these trips to find “Christ” and to minister to Him. Contact Wolf Jedamski at the Church office (423-396-2134).
